Walking and cycling trails near Newgrange LodgeAlong the River Boyne

Explore the beautiful valley of the Boyne and with a lovely walk along the River Banks. Walk along the River Boyne from Newgrange to the Battle of the Boyne Estate. There are also lovely walking trails and picnic areas on the grounds of the estate.

For longer distance walks check out the walk along the River Boyne from Navan to Stackallen Bridge in Slane. Please see our Facebook page for an update on guided local walks organised by the Ramblers.

Walkers may also cross over the bridge in Bru na Boinne to the other side of the valley and walk along the old country roads passing Newgrange monument and Dowth.

Forest Walks

There are ample forest walks and trails within the area include Littlewoods forest in Slane and Townley Hall over beside the Battle of the Boyne Estate. 

Historic Guided Walks

Visitors can take a self guided walk on The Slane Historic Trail and there is a super self guided walking trail of the nearby town of Drogheda which is steeped in history. Cycle Route maps are available at reception in the Lodge.
